In contrast to Sony's first-gen BDP-S1 (and Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1) the BDP-S300 plays back CDs, either from its analog audio outputs or any of the The digital audio outputs, including HDMI.

Once loaded and running, the BDP-S300 performed like a gold medalist. The best Blu-ray Discs looked sensational either 1080p / 60 or 1080p / 24 And for those with 720p displays, or displays that do not accept 1080p inputs, the player also beautifully executed if either set a 720p or 1080i output.

BDP-S300 Strengths: picture quality

Strengths: Very good picture and sound

Weaknesses: Nonefor me

Summary: I have this Blu-Ray player last July to watch movies and it has worked flawlessly for me from Day 1. I am not a viewer, the picture-in-use image (like the latter has not), nor do I play one of the games that are on some of the slices. I wanted a Blu-Ray player, which I full HD video and great sound. The audio sounds great on my surround sound system when I use it. Sometimes I'm just the TV speakers and the audio is excellent. If youinterested in a Blu-Ray player with outstanding video and excellent sound of this player is for you.

Strengths: Plays Blu-Ray discs, Upconvert standard DVDs. Full 1080p output. Good selection of audio outputs.

Strengths: Great picture when playing Blu-ray disc Connected all audio connections at a time other than coax, and all worked automatically ... Great sound.

While the Sony BDP-S300 is an entry-level Blu-ray player, not the initial model does not necessarily meancheap. You will be a more capable high-definition video players. VD is lousy, and at best only decodes Dolby Digital Plus. If you already have a capable Upconverting DVD player and not the decoding of Dolby TrueHD and the myriad of high-definition DTS formats, this can make the Blu-ray player for you.

Summary: Sony finally has its second generation Blu-ray player at half the original price of the original! The BDP-S300looks like a bargain compared to their previous BDP-S1 model.

In addition to the cost-benefit, you get more with this player. Unlike the previous model the S300 can also play CDs with the DVD. Moreover, it seems a bit faster than the previous model to load.

All in all, the BDP-S300 delivers what it promises.

The new BDP-S300 model can output 1920 x 1080p (progressive) high-definition video, currently the highest resolution high-definition signal availablevia HDMI ™ connection. The player supports various video formats, MPEG2, MPEG4-AVC and VC1.

For those who have an HDTV without HDMI, an analog component output for 1080i (interlaced) has set itself also available.

The new BD player is compatible with most standard DVDs and has the added feature of 1080p upscaling through HDMI to 1080p HDTVs, improving the picture performance of existing DVDLibraries.

Watching Pirates Pirates I and II, I found the picture comes alive and without artifacts. My receiver is providing a 5.1 DD so I am not in a position to take advantage of uncompressed PCM codec to take. However, the Dolby Digital audio track was very impressive. All in all, this is a very good player in a very good price.

This is an excellent BD player for under $ 500! The picture quality is awesome!
Excellent quality for DVD upscalingMovies

Below is mentioned that it can not be made region free. True only in part. A California company has sold this model in a multi-region (multi-region) version. It can be any region A and B Blu-ray Disc movie and it shows on any TV, the HDMI input to play, regardless of the video standard (PAL-NTSC-SECAM, etc.)

This is a unit that we would buy ourselves, if not for the fact that we do not make region-free, because we have a large DVD collectionFilms from Regions 1 and 4 If you play only region-( "region 0") or region 1 discs then this device is a great pick, free mainly because of its cost-benefit ratio: great price and excellent picture quality for DVDs - if the relative slowness of this device is not disturbed.

I did not have all the bells and whistles away yet, but the image quality just floored me. Even my wife who does not really use the whole 'high def thing, "was deeply impressed. We saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and could not believe the quality.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, inexpensive for a Blu-ray player, offering HDMI upscaling to 1080p

If you are looking to the enormous pleasures of movies on Blu-ray Disc experience and a reasonable start-up costs is recommended, check out Sony BDP-S300.

This is a great Blu-ray DVD player. It enhances regular DVD viewing and is Blu-ray discs in full> 1080p (if you have a 1080p HDTV).

The picture and sound quality is amazing!

Very good product for the money. Well worth it if you get the best picture from your big widescreen HDTV.

"I have this Blu-ray player about 2 weeks one. I bought my first Blu-ray this past weekend and I had gone through the full 1080p image it produces and the full blown digital sound is awesome. Take care to a buy HDMI cables for thisPlayers and you will not be disappointed. It is also Upconvert standard DVD's into near HD quality. "

Let this unit for a week and love it. Bought it for my husband Appliance bestbuys the price was great, the large units, and I would definitely say buy these if they want a good Blu-ray without emptying their wallets.
