Toshiba XD-E500 Upconverting 1080p Extended Detail DVD Player Review
I replaced a Pioneer upconverting DVD player (DV400-V) with the Toshiba XDE500. I was surprised at how much better the picture was from the Toshiba.
The Pioneer quality was not noticably better than standard def when played on my (720p) HD TV. The Toshiba really does look like near HD quality.
I also tried a couple of DVD recorders with upconversion (Panasonic DMREZ28K and Toshiba DR570KU), and thought the Toshiba player XDE500 gave the best quality upconverted picture of the lot.
